Tbetrisi pt2

Let’s talk about local building traditions. Buildings follow traditions and obey the state of things rather than someone’s good idea. Here are some peculiarities from the flat we were renting in the new old Tbilisi in December.

  1. There’s a door to the bedroom. There’s a headbump right after the door in the room.

  1. One may think it’s an oversized storage. Let’s check it from the inside:

intentional

This tetris block spreads wall-to-wall through the room.

The niche from the first photo is pushing the drobe into the room too.

  1. And here’s another oversized door but a vertical approach instead. That’s another bedroom

  1. There is an insertion in the room. Must be a different room from the next door neighbours?

insertion

Let’s check outside:

no brakes

Well, the insertion inside is a appeared as a shed in the yard. Must have had bad breaks and ended up in the bedroom. The “insertion” is behind the woodplanks cover

Also, note a nice curly stairs on the left. And the prayers that hold the second floor in the air. That’s something giving me the WAAAAAGH vibes.

  1. Here’s another bedroom wall. There is a room for your imagination. Could be a fireplace mockup, a legroom under the table, a room for the second radiator or for a dog’s nest

imagination

Also if you think it’s the lens distorting the parallels, then you are wrong. The parallels are bad for psychological state.

  1. Doors. It’s not lack of material, but no need for a full frame: the wall does it instead

framing

  1. A view into the inner yard, since we’re here

  1. Here’s a kitchen. The niche in the wall is either in the neighbour’s room or in the third bedroom that was locked. Macgyver resisted this lock.

It was winter, hence it was very cold inside. Even though it was 0C outside and there was a gas-powered heating loop inside. The heater was placed somewhere in the neighbour’s room.

The choice was either waking up with a headache because of no vent or wake up in the 15C room with inadequately low humidity.
